This is the website of Allen Gogarty, an Irish musician based in New York. I run it myself. This page explains, in plain English, what information the site collects, why, and who else handles it. If you have any questions, email me at hello@allengogartymusic.com.
The contact form
When you use the contact form, it sends me your name, your email address, the subject and your message. I use these only to read your message and reply to you. The message is sent to my Gmail inbox by FluentSMTP, an email plugin on this site, using Google’s Gmail service. The website also keeps a copy of each message in its email log for 30 days, so I can check that messages were delivered, and then deletes it automatically.
The newsletter
If you sign up for my newsletter, your email address is stored by EmailOctopus, the service I use to send it. I only use it to send you news about my music and gigs. After you sign up you’ll get an email asking you to confirm, and you’re only added once you click the link. Every newsletter has an unsubscribe link, and you can unsubscribe at any time.
The sign-up form, on the Home, Live and Contact pages, uses Google reCAPTCHA to block spam. reCAPTCHA is a Google service, and Google’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service apply to it.
Visitor statistics
I use Burst Statistics to count visits and see which pages are popular. It runs on this website itself, so the statistics stay here and are not shared with anyone. It doesn’t use cookies, and it doesn’t track you across days.
Things that load from other services
- Fonts: the site’s fonts are stored on this website, so loading them doesn’t contact Google. The newsletter sign-up form on the Home, Live and Contact pages loads one font from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com), so on those pages your browser connects to Google’s servers.
- YouTube: the video on the home page uses YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). YouTube is owned by Google. In this mode YouTube says it doesn’t store information about you unless you play the video. If you play it, YouTube may set its own cookies.
- Hosting: the site is hosted by GoDaddy, whose servers deliver the pages to you.
What I don’t do
I don’t sell, rent or trade your information. I don’t use it for advertising.
Your choices
- To stop getting the newsletter, use the unsubscribe link in any newsletter email.
- To ask what I hold about you, or to have it deleted, email hello@allengogartymusic.com and I’ll take care of it.
Changes
If I change this policy, I’ll update the date at the top of this page.
